Minor Arrested After Disturbance at Hiyaa Tower in Hulhumalé Phase II

A minor has been arrested following a disturbance involving multiple youths at a Hiyaa tower in Phase II, Hulhumalé, police confirmed yesterday.

The incident occurred at Tower 9 of the Hiyaa housing complex, where three minors reportedly threatened each other and caused a disruption in the area. Police stated that a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the case.

A video circulating on social media shows a male being detained at the scene, while a voice in the background references an individual allegedly carrying a knife.

Police confirmed that a sharp object was recovered from the location. An investigation remains ongoing.

The incident follows increasing public concern regarding youth involvement in violent altercations and street-level confrontations. According to police statistics, 479 cases of physical assault have been reported so far this year.
