The event, which began on Wednesday in Madrid, Spain, will continue until Sunday. Fitur is recognised as a key event in the global tourism sector, serving as a leading trade fair for inbound and outbound international markets. This year, the event has set new records, with participation from 9,500 companies, 884 main exhibitors, and official delegations from 101 countries. A total of 156 nations are showcasing their tourism offerings across nine expansive halls at IFEMA Madrid, making it the largest global platform for the industry.
MMPRC’s presence at the event is expected to boost the Maldives’ brand presence in Spain and across Europe, facilitating strong connections with travel agents from key markets in the region. The event also provides opportunities to highlight the Maldives’ unique offerings, including romantic getaways, wellness retreats, family holidays, adventure trips, and both summer and winter escapes.
The Maldives’ stand at Fitur 2025 reflects the country’s commitment to sustainability, luxury, romance, adventure, and cultural tourism. Visitors to the stand can engage with Maldivian travel trade partners and access the latest information about the destination. Interactive activities, including local food tastings, photo opportunities with traditional libaas and feyli props, and the creation of personalised calligraphy bookmarks, are central to the experience.
The stand also features visuals and videos on LED screens, showcasing the diverse experiences available in the Maldives. Raffle draws are being held to give away complimentary holidays to the destination, sponsored by Ithaa Holidays Maldives.
Spain ranked among the top 10 source markets for tourist arrivals to the Maldives in 2024, with 47,835 visitors. MMPRC is continuing its efforts to promote the Maldives in the Spanish market, building on the success of the previous year.
