The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Central Area Command and Coast Guard Third Squadron caught a sizable crocodile yesterday, near the Kandima Resort in Dhaalu Atoll.
The operation was set in motion following a report received from the police at 4:08 pm, prompting swift action by Coast Guard personnel who swiftly navigated to the location aboard a harborcraft.
Measuring at a nine feet in length, the presence of the crocodile stirred attention, considering that encounters with such creatures are infrequent in the Maldives. While crocodiles are known to inhabit specific areas within the archipelago, their proximity to a vibrant resort area adds a notable dimension to the incident.
Authorities are continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding the unexpected presence of the crocodile near the popular tourist destination.
