The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard vessel Huravee has completed its first official overseas voyage, travelling to Sri Lanka to take part in events marking the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lankan Navy.
During the visit, the vessel participated in the International Fleet Review held in Colombo on 30 November. MNDF personnel joined parades, outreach activities, and professional naval engagements organised as part of the programme. The Huravee was also opened to the public, offering visitors an opportunity to tour the vessel.
Sri Lankan Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda visited the Huravee during its stay and met with its Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Nafiu, along with members of the crew. The MNDF conveyed to the Sri Lankan government that the vessel stands ready to support humanitarian and disaster relief efforts in light of the impact of Cyclone Ditwah.
The visit highlights the close bilateral ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka and their ongoing cooperation in promoting maritime security within the Indian Ocean region.
