MNDF Stays True to Core Duty Amidst Shifting Geopolitics, Says President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) will continue to navigate the shifting winds of geopolitical change while upholding its paramount duty to safeguard the nation’s peace, honour, and dignity, ensuring the protection of both the Maldivian state and its citizens from any threat.
This statement was published on the President’s Office website, commemorating the 133rd anniversary of the MNDF, observed today.
In a separate post on X, he said the successes achieved by the Maldivian people are due to the country remaining a free state.
“The torch for Maldives’ independence is lifted by the Maldivian army’s spirit, sacrifice, and unmoved determination,” the President said in Dhivehi.

The President highlighted that the Maldives has remained an independent homeland under a single government thanks to the sacrifices made by those who have defended the nation’s sovereignty and unity. He acknowledged the MNDF’s central role in these efforts, consistently working to protect the country and maintain national security.
The President praised MNDF personnel for consistently placing the nation and its people above their personal lives and families. He noted they have stepped forward with dedication and commitment during national crises to protect the Maldivian people.

Emphasising the MNDF’s unwavering resolve and loyalty to the nation, the President expressed confidence that the Maldives’ independence and sovereignty would remain secure as long as this steadfast commitment endures.
In a separate congratulatory message posted on his official X account, the President stated that the continued independence of the Maldives serves as the foundation for every success and achievement of its people. He credited the MNDF’s passion, sacrifice, and determination for carrying forward the torch of Maldivian freedom.
