Mohamed Shaheeb Assumes Role as President’s Office Spokesperson

Former journalist and ex-Broadcasting Commission Chairman, Mohamed Shaheeb, has been named as the new Spokesperson for the President’s Office, filling a position that had remained vacant since November 17.

Shaheeb, widely regarded as one of the most seasoned journalists in the Maldives, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Notably, he has received national recognition for his contributions to the field of journalism. During President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, Shaheeb served as the Chairman of the Broadcasting Commission. 

In that capacity, he took decisive actions against several TV stations and imposed substantial fines. 

However, he resigned from the post after the Independent Institutions Committee of the Parliament determined his removal as Chairman.
