More Than 1000 Vehicles Towed from Hulhumale Streets in the Last Two Months

The Maldives Police Service has reported that a total of 1,222 vehicles were towed from the streets of Hulhumale over the past two months.
Data shared on their official X account detailed the reasons for, and numbers of, vehicles towed.

According to the chart, a total of 643 two-wheeled vehicles and 59 four-wheeled vehicles were removed from various locations across Hulhumale during September.
September:
- Illegal parking: 453 two-wheeled vehicles, 2 four-wheeled vehicles
- Driving without a licence: 111 two-wheeled vehicles, 20 four-wheeled vehicles
- Reckless driving: 33 two-wheeled vehicles, 3 four-wheeled vehicles
- Changing registration number: 11 two-wheeled vehicles, 19 four-wheeled vehicles
- Driving a modified vehicle: 12 two-wheeled vehicles, no four-wheeled vehicles
During October, a total of 520 vehicles were towed, including 425 two-wheeled and 95 four-wheeled vehicles.
October:
- Illegal parking: 247 two-wheeled vehicles, 45 four-wheeled vehicles
- Driving without a licence: 108 two-wheeled vehicles, 19 four-wheeled vehicles
- Reckless driving: 21 two-wheeled vehicles, 1 four-wheeled vehicle
- Changing registration number: 18 two-wheeled vehicles, 19 four-wheeled vehicles
- Driving a modified vehicle: 10 two-wheeled vehicles, no four-wheeled vehicles
- Driving without registration: 2 four-wheeled vehicles
- Abandoned on the road: 5 two-wheeled vehicles
Over the past two days, police have also towed 145 two-wheeled vehicles from the streets of Malé.

The police service stated that the towing operations aim to maintain public safety, ensure roads remain navigable, and restore order on the streets.
