As the presidential election draws closer with a remaining timeframe of 40 days, the deadline for online re-registration is scheduled to expire tomorrow.
To streamline the re-registration process for the presidential election, the ECM has provided the option for applicants to apply online between July 16 and 31, while paper forms can be submitted until August 6th.
As of the 29th of this month, the ECM has received a cumulative total of 11,933 applications for re-registration, encompassing 8,624 online submissions and 3,309 paper forms.
Ismail Habeeb, the Vice President of the ECM, has emphasized that, up to this point, only Malaysia and the UK have confirmed the placement of ballot boxes outside of Maldives. He further added that other countries are yet to register sufficient voters to warrant the establishment of ballot boxes.
In a bid to uphold transparency, the particulars of the re-registered candidates will be made public on the ECM’s website and shared with political parties.
Ismail Habeeb has urged citizens not to delay their re-registration process and to complete it as soon as possible, eschewing any last-minute procrastination.
