Opposition MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem was escorted out of the Parliament chamber today after repeatedly defying the Speaker’s orders to maintain order during a heated exchange with Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.

The incident occurred during a parliamentary session in which Minister Khaleel was summoned to respond to questions concerning the President’s Office’s statement that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had met a Saudi royal prince, following reports that the meeting had been with a “fake prince”.

South Galolhu MP Meekail asked whether the government considered its conduct inappropriate. In response, Minister Khaleel said that Fahad al-Saud was the son of a Saudi princess and that his visit had been for personal reasons.

The minister also highlighted the President’s frequent visits to Saudi Arabia and meetings with the Crown Prince.

When Meekail repeated the question, the minister stated that he had already given his answer and accused the opposition of spreading false information. The MP protested, accusing the minister of failing to address the question directly. Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla intervened, stating that the minister’s answer had been delivered and urging Meekail to resume order.

MP Meekail refused and continued his protest. After announcing Meekail’s name three times, the Speaker ordered him to leave the chamber. When he declined, parliamentary security escorted him from the floor.
