MRM President Ahmed Faris Maumoon, who faced a significant defeat in the initial round of the presidential election on Saturday, receiving 2,979 votes, took to Twitter to announce that he had conveyed his proposals for economic, social, and political reforms to the MDP.

As of now, no final decision has been reached regarding the formation of a coalition by the MRM. Notably, Faris did not participate in either of these meetings.
Nothing has changed from my side. Since the other candidates are seeking to increase their support, there is a possibility that they are willing to concede on these matters. That’s what we are discussing in the meetings https://t.co/pQFFgWVj5V— faris 🇲🇻 🇵🇸 (@afarismaumoon) September 13, 2023
Faris responded to tweets by emphasising that he remains steadfast in his commitment to addressing wealth distribution inequality.
He stated, “Nothing has changed from my side. Since the other candidates are actively seeking to expand their support, there is a possibility that they may be open to compromise on these crucial issues. These matters are currently under discussion in our meetings.”
He expressed his belief in the significance of these policies for strengthening democracy, upholding justice and equality, and establishing national unity and solidarity.
It is worth noting that the MDP had extended an invitation to the MRM to join forces in the first round of the presidential election, but the MRM, which remains part of the government coalition, opted to contest the election independently.
