Muizzu and UAE Cyber Security Chief Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Dr Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), met yesterday to discuss bolstering cyber security and data protection cooperation.

Dr Al Kuwaiti made a courtesy visit to President Muizzu at the President’s Office, where the two leaders addressed various topics. During the meeting, President Muizzu welcomed Dr Al Kuwaiti to the Maldives and highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between the two nations.

President Muizzu expressed his appreciation to the UAE leadership for their significant support and opportunities provided to the Maldives over the years, underscoring the “brotherly relations” between the two countries.

In addition to discussing improvements in cyber security and data protection, the meeting also covered strategies to combat misinformation and disinformation. They emphasised the need for ongoing training opportunities to keep officials updated with technological advancements.

President Muizzu extended his thanks to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his “vision and leadership in fostering strategic partnerships” between the Maldives and the UAE. He also highlighted ongoing projects supported by the UAE aimed at enhancing law enforcement capabilities in the Maldives.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to furthering cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
