President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has refuted speculations suggesting that 4,000 flats constructed under the previous administration will be allocated based on a list curated by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.
As part of the “Raeesge Javaabu” initiative initiated by the President’s Office, a video surfaced on social media depicting an individual querying the status of the flats and the alleged list.
In response, President Muizzu dismissed the rumours, asserting that such claims were fabricated to sow discord.
“Regardless of the individuals involved, whether it be myself, my spouse, or acquaintances, within or outside government, this administration is committed to ensuring no infringement upon the rights of any citizen,” he stated.
“Be it housing allocations or any other entitlement, I categorically deny any actions aimed at depriving individuals of their rights. I stand firm against any such occurrence.”
Muizzu underscored the government’s commitment to executing all programmes impartially, equitably, and with utmost transparency.
Emphasising his dedication to serving the populace with integrity, the President pledged to uphold the rights of citizens diligently.
This declaration comes in the wake of revelations by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday, disclosing that 60 percent of applicants deemed eligible for ‘Gedhoruveriya’ flats by the former Housing Ministry did not meet the stipulated criteria.
