Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the People’s National Congress’ (PNC) presidential candidate, has announced his commitment to reducing the rent of Vinares flats.
Addressing a gathering at Maaveyo Magu during a street rally on yesterday, Muizzu expressed concern over what he described as exorbitant rent charges imposed by the government for Vinares flats.
Muizzu pointed out that the funds for the Vinares flats project were secured during his tenure as Housing Minister in the previous administration. Despite the renaming of the project to Vinares, he maintained that he possessed a comprehensive understanding of its details.
He underscored that the primary objective of providing housing should not be to create a financial burden for the recipients but rather to offer affordable housing solutions. Muizzu pledged that, if elected, he would work towards reducing the rent charges.
Addressing concerns about allegations that he would revoke the plots and flats designated for Male’ residents by the current government if he were to win the election, Muizzu reiterated his commitment to not confiscating such properties. Instead, he promised to support the construction of similar plots.
Muizzu concluded by assuring the public that he would honor his promises and encouraged voters to consider him as the preferred candidate in the upcoming presidential election’s second round.
