Dr. Mohamed Muizzu the presidential candidate representing the People’s National Congress (PNC), yesterday, pledged to construct a Student Dormitory on the island as part of his policy on population and development consolidation.

Addressing the gathered residents and supporters, Muizzu emphasised his vision for the island’s development, particularly in the context of accommodating students arriving from various parts of the region.

In addition to the student dormitory, Muizzu outlined several other key points of his campaign agenda. Under his decentralisation policy, he expressed intentions to empower local councils, enabling them to create more economic opportunities for citizens residing on Hulhudhuffaaru.

Furthermore, he revealed plans to transfer Gaaun’doodhoo to the jurisdiction of the Hulhudhuffaaru Island Council.

Muizzu explained that this transfer was motivated by the belief that Gaaun’doodhoo holds economic benefits for the residents of Hulhudhuffaaru. However, he voiced concerns about the current ownership arrangement and vowed to review the agreement to ensure it serves the best interests of Hulhudhuffaaru’s residents.

Beyond these commitments, Muizzu pledged to align the island’s development with the desires of its inhabitants. He promised to enhance sports facilities and revive stalled projects on Hulhudhuffaaru.
