Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the People’s National Congress’ (PNC) presidential candidate, has made a promise to revamp all the roads within Male’ city if he secures victory in the upcoming second round of the presidential election scheduled for the 30th of this month.
Speaking at the inauguration of PNC campaign booth, Muizzu criticised the current government for halting road construction projects within the city. He assured the public that, under his leadership, these roads would undergo much-needed repairs and modernisation.
Muizzu, who also holds the position of Mayor of the city, emphasised that the MVR 420 million road construction project initiated under the former city council and government has continued without interruption since he took office.
The extensive project, aimed at resurfacing approximately 100 major city roads, was originally awarded to the RDC with a two-year deadline. However, the government abruptly terminated the contract without prior notice, according to Muizzu.
In addition to his commitment to improving the road infrastructure, Muizzu has articulated plans to address the housing needs of the population in Maldives. He has vowed to dredge the necessary areas within the first year of his government to accommodate housing requirements.
Furthermore, Muizzu has pledged that individuals who have been promised land by President Solih’s government will indeed receive their allocated land under his administration.
