Muizzu Pledges to Prioritise Islam and National Interests in New Administration

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that his forthcoming administration will focus on upholding Islamic principles and safeguarding national interests.
This declaration was made in commemoration of the day the Maldives adopted Islam and was conveyed through a press release.
In his message, Muizzu extended his warm regards to citizens on the 897th anniversary of the Maldives’ conversion to Islam. He expressed his hope that the country would continue to be guided by Islamic values, highlighting the Maldives as a steadfast 100% Islamic nation that sets an example for the world.
Moreover, Muizzu acknowledged the various challenges confronting Maldivians, encompassing ideological, economic, and strategic dimensions. He emphasised that the nation collectively prioritises its interests, promising to place Islam and the well-being of the populace at the forefront of his agenda during his tenure.
He further stated his commitment to safeguarding the country’s independence and sovereignty, maintaining positive bilateral relations, and upholding the reputation of Maldivians in the international community.
