Dr. Muizzu, the presidential candidate representing the People’s National Congress (PNC) in the upcoming presidential elections, has pledged to waive fines imposed for illegal parking.

Addressing supporters at a campaign gathering in Sh. Funadhoo, Muizzu emphasised that the current administration had fallen short in providing adequate parking infrastructure while initially assuring citizens that parking fines would not be rigorously enforced.

However, he pointed out that the public had already been burdened with substantial fines, framing this as a revenue-generation strategy employed by the government.

Furthermore, Muizzu highlighted that the Male’ City Council had devised plans to tackle the parking challenges, but their execution had been impeded by the current administration. In light of this, Muizzu pledged to pardon all parking fines issued during the incumbent government’s tenure.

Beyond this, Muizzu conveyed his determination to address the scarcity of parking amenities in the capital city, Male’. He outlined his proposals for constructing multi-level parking structures and introducing alternate parking zones, affirming his commitment to dismantling what he referred to as the “garage city concept”.

These initiatives are designed to ameliorate the parking predicament faced by the populace under his administration.
