President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he has made significant progress in fulfilling the commitments outlined in his ‘Hafuthaa 14’ roadmap, with 155 out of 161 objectives achieved and the remaining nearing completion.
During the latest instalment of the Q&A programme ‘Raeesge Javaabu’, Muizzu fielded questions regarding the extent of his pledge fulfilment.
Emphasising the ongoing efforts, President Muizzu highlighted the substantial groundwork laid for forthcoming initiatives. “There’s a substantial amount of groundwork underway for initiatives slated for the upcoming year and beyond. Various ministries and entities have swiftly initiated work on proposals articulated during my visits to the atolls,” he remarked.
In a bid for transparency, Muizzu has documented all pledges, including those articulated during the 2023 presidential campaign, in a comprehensive publication.
According to the President’s Office website, progress on several outstanding goals within the ‘Hafulhaa 14′ roadmap stands at 99 percent completion. Among the pending objectives is the formulation of a policy to manage short- and long-term debt levels in alignment with international financial institutions’ counsel, aimed at bolstering economic stability and fiscal strategies. Additionally, progress on drafting a mental healthcare bill remains underway.
Conversely, advancement on a pivotal commitment – the appeal against the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) ruling, which resulted in the alteration of the Maldives’ southern Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) boundary – stands at 80 percent completion.
