Muizzu Vows to Build Media Village and Scholarships for Journalists

In his address at the Social Center, President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu unveiled plans to establish a dedicated media village in the city and to provide annual scholarships for journalists.
During the ceremony, journalists shared the challenges they encounter in their profession, citing high rental costs for private media outlets, difficulties in providing training to journalists, and financial obstacles in media operations.
They also highlighted the need for transparency and equal opportunities in the media sector.
Muizzu acknowledged the financial burden faced by the media and pledged to develop a comprehensive plan to address the issue promptly. He proposed the establishment of a media village in the Male’ area to offer affordable facilities for media operations.
Addressing concerns about education and skill development for journalists, Muizzu announced plans to allocate a specific number of free scholarships annually for those pursuing journalism studies. This initiative aims to produce well-educated journalists, contributing to the growth of the field.
Muizzu expressed his commitment to include financial support for the media in the upcoming budget, which has already been submitted to parliament.
Vowing transparency in his government, Muizzu assured easy access to government information for the media. In addition, he revealed plans for the release of a special book on Thursday, compiling all his speeches since the submission of his nomination papers.
