President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to enhance the mechanism for risk allowances to ensure greater inclusivity for employees operating in high-risk environments.
The commitment came during the ‘Raeesge Javab’ Q&A session yesterday, in response to a query from a member of the public regarding the absence of risk allowances for workers at MTCC, HDC, and WAMCO engaged in hazardous duties.
President Muizzu highlighted the importance of corporations implementing robust risk allowance policies for staff exposed to perilous work conditions.
He emphasised the need for differentiation in allowances based on the nature of the work environment, citing examples such as personnel engaged in harbor development projects at MTCC compared to those in less hazardous roles.
Addressing existing shortcomings, Muizzu assured steps to refine the risk allowance system. “We aim to foster greater inclusivity for all employees operating in high-risk settings in the future,” he affirmed.
