The Ministry of Health yesterday confirmed the full restoration of the National Mental Health Helpline (1677), which had experienced a brief technical disruption. The 24/7 toll-free service is now fully operational, ready to provide vital mental health and psychosocial support across the Maldives.

The helpline was temporarily disconnected on July 19th due to a technical issue. The Department quickly addressed the public on X, stating, “We are actively working to resolve the issue and will notify the public once the service is restored.”

In an update yesterday, July 20th, the Ministry of Health announced the successful resolution of the issue and the return of the helpline to service. This means the disruption lasted for approximately one day.

The National Mental Health Helpline was originally launched in February 2024 as a key initiative by the Health Ministry to offer accessible and immediate mental health support to the Maldivian population.
