First Lady Sajidha Mohamed said yesterday that a nation’s development relies fundamentally on the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of its people.
She delivered these remarks at the ceremony marking the 43rd anniversary of Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, held at Kulhudhuffushi Ports Limited.
Highlighting the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare in Kulhudhuffushi City and its surrounding region, the First Lady noted the growing role of technology in transforming healthcare services. She described President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s “Maldives 2.0” initiative as a game-changing step towards strengthening the national healthcare system.
As part of the celebration, the First Lady officially launched several new services at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, including a telemedicine service and an endometriosis clinic. Director General of Health Services Dr Ahmed Ashraf inaugurated a new clinic dedicated to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The ceremony also recognised individuals and organisations for their contributions to the hospital’s growth. Retired staff were honoured with commemorative plaques, while employees received awards for outstanding performance and service milestones spanning 10, 20, and 30 years. The First Lady personally presented all awards and plaques.
Earlier in the day, the First Lady arrived in Kulhudhuffushi City, where she toured the hospital, inspected its facilities, and engaged with medical personnel.
