Nearly 7,000 Companies Face Dissolution by Year’s End

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has published a list of nearly 7,000 companies slated for dissolution by the end of this year.
The ministry said companies named on the list have until 2pm on 30 December to remove their names and avoid dissolution.

Companies wishing to resume operations must submit a board resolution through the ministry’s business portal before the deadline. In addition, they must provide the following documents:
- A letter stating the intention to resume business operations, signed by the board of directors
- A receipt showing payment of any fines imposed by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) for penalties incurred before 31 December 2023, where applicable
- Annual financial statements, directors’ annual reports, and the auditor’s report
- Receipts for fines imposed due to failure to submit annual financial statements, directors’ reports, or auditor’s reports
Companies on the list that have outstanding debts or are involved in court cases must also submit:
- Documents detailing the debt or court case
- Court verdicts relating to the debt or case
- Documentary proof of the debt or legal proceedings
