President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that it is now a necessity to integrate technology into education, especially in a geographically dispersed nation like the Maldives.
In his message shared by the President’s Office yesterday to commemorate International Day of Education, which is celebrated today, he recognised the role education plays in empowering individuals through knowledge. Commenting on this year’s theme for the day,
“AI and Education: PReserving human agency in a world of automation,” he said the Maldives aims to incorporate high-end e-learning resources into the nation’s education system.
“In our geographically dispersed island nation, the Maldives aims to incorporate high-end e-learning resources, artificial intelligence and virtual reality into our educational system to chart a brighter pathway for our future generations,” the President said.
Muizzu said the Maldivian educational system is integrating digital technology into curricula by digitising textbooks and implementing a competency-based hybrid learning model. Additionally, enhancing STEAM education to inspire young minds is of significant importance to the Maldives.
In his statement, he thanked the educators for the role they play in building skills through the education of others.
“I reaffirm the commitment of the Government to ensure every child in the country receives quality education that nurtures their young minds, instils values, promotes creativity, and prepares them for an ever-evolving world,” Muizzu said.
