New Academic Year Begins with Over 84,000 Students

The new academic year commences with an enrollment of over 84,000 students across the country, following a one and half month break.

According to the Ministry of Education, a substantial 73,000 children are studying in government schools during the course of this academic year. Furthermore, an additional figure of over 25,000 children will find their places in schools located across Male’, Villimale’, and Hulhumale’.

Among this year’s newcomers, an impressive 7,000 children have embarked on their educational journey, with a specific count of 2,491 enrolling in government schools situated in Male’, Villimale’, and Hulhumale’.

The educational landscape for this year comprises a total of 216 institutions across the country. Notable among these is the recently established Darmavantha School building, along with the fresh CHSE building and the Salahuddin School located in Hulhumale’.

Temporarily, the students of Arabia School have been relocated to the premises previously occupied by Dharumavantha School. Notably, the construction of a permanent building for Arabia School is yet to commence.

In anticipation of the academic year’s commencement, the necessary textbooks required for the children’s studies have already been dispatched to the various schools. To cater to the educational needs, the ministry has successfully recruited 6,516 local teachers and 1,843 foreign educators.

The Ministry of Education asserts that all schools are adequately staffed at the outset of the academic term, addressing concerns often raised by parents about a shortage of teachers.

Both the ministry and educational institutions have diligently laid the groundwork to prepare for the new academic year. Ensuring a sufficient number of teaching personnel has been a core focus, with the Ministry of Education disclosing the appointment of 6,516 local teachers and 1,843 foreign teachers across the schools.
