New Generator Set Sent to Dhigurah to Support Developing Tourism Sector

State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced that a new 320 KWh generator set has been sent to Alif Dhaal Atoll Dhigurah, to support the island’s growing energy use, increased by urbanisation and a developing tourism sector. 

On a post shared on X, the state-owned utility company said that the new generator was sent after gauging the increasing demand for better electricity infrastructure.

STELCO also said that after the installation of the generator, they will be able to provide enhanced electricity services to the island. 

The company previously said that the decision to expand the islands’ electricity capacity is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure across the atolls and to meet growing demand during periods of high consumption.
