Abbas, who assumed office last week, held a meeting with Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, today. Following the discussions, Abbas posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Maldives Police Service is the PG Office’s most significant partner, and that joint efforts between the two institutions would help enhance confidence in the criminal justice process.
The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that during the meeting, Abbas assured the police of their full support to expedite criminal investigations more efficiently than before. Additionally, Abbas outlined his vision to accelerate the prosecution process once investigations are concluded.
Commissioner Shujau reportedly reaffirmed the commitment of the police to maintaining a close working relationship with the PG Office.
In addition to meeting with the Commissioner of Police, PG Abbas also recently held discussions with Attorney General Ahmed Usham.
