New Seaplane Route Expected to Strengthen Tourism in Thoddoo

The launch of Maldivian’s seaplane services to AA. Thoddoo is expected to provide a boost to the island’s tourism sector, improving accessibility for visitors and strengthening its appeal as a travel destination.
In a post shared on social media, Transport Minister Ameen highlighted the significance of the new service, noting that enhanced connectivity would support tourism development and improve travel convenience for residents and visitors.
The launching ceremony, which featured a series of cultural performances, was officiated by the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, who hails from Thoddoo, last Thursday. The event was attended by senior government officials, including Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, as well as representatives from Maldivian Aero and members of the local community.
Maldivian has introduced special promotional fares for Maldivians alongside the launch, with one-way tickets priced at MVR 799.
The new seaplane route is expected to strengthen transport links between Thoddoo and the capital, while contributing to the island’s growing tourism sector.
