According to the current calendar, the pilgrimage falls on Thursday, 5 June. The first two days of Eid al-Adha align with Friday and Saturday, which are already part of the weekend in the Maldives. As a result, the official Eid holiday will span two additional days: Sunday and Monday.
The statement comes amid public speculation over whether the government would declare an extended holiday period surrounding the Islamic festivities.
