The Maldives Police Service has announced that the northern side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be closed to traffic from 25 October to allow for road resurfacing.
According to the Police, the closure will extend from the area near the Fish Market to the end of the block where the Police Headquarters is located. Sections of Chaandhanee Magu adjacent to Jumhooree Maidhaan and parts of Ibrahim Hassan Didi Magu will also be closed during the works.
The redevelopment of this section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu was first announced by President Mohamed Muizzu at the inauguration of the renovated Izzuddin Jetty. The project, awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in April, includes widening the road into two lanes in each direction, partial reclamation, and the installation of underground infrastructure and new paving.

Project updates shared by MTCC last month stated that all sheet piling and installation works for the first phase have finished, with the first phase nearing completion.
President Muizzu has stated that the project is expected to be completed and inaugurated by the end of 2025.
