NSPA Allocates MVR 16 Million for Local and Overseas Medical Treatments in August

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has revealed that a total of MVR 16 million was spent in August on medical treatments, both locally and overseas.
According to statistics released by the agency, MVR 8.5 million was allocated for treatments abroad, while MVR 8.3 million was spent on healthcare services within Maldivian facilities.

The highest proportion of funding from the Medical Treatment Assistance Programme last month was directed towards the treatment of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) diseases. A total of 184 individuals received assistance for ENT-related conditions.
Orthopaedic treatments followed closely, with support provided to 172 individuals, while 170 patients received assistance for cancer treatment during the same period.

Other major areas of medical aid included spine and neurological diseases, which benefitted 167 people, respiratory diseases with 158 beneficiaries, maternity care with 127, paediatric diseases with 120, urinary tract and kidney diseases with 112, and eye diseases with 108.
The report also highlighted that assistance was extended to patients suffering from various other conditions, with congenital disorders receiving the least support in August, covering 10 individuals.
