The total expenditure for these individuals amounted to MVR 25.4 million. Of this sum, MVR 24.8 million was spent on children under the age of 18, while MVR 1.2 million was allocated to support 30 children living overseas.

In the preceding year, the NSPA spent MVR 96.7 million under the same programme, supporting 1,087 individuals. Of the total disbursed in 2024, MVR 94 million was spent on 1,031 children under 18, and MVR 4.2 million was provided for 54 children residing abroad.

Separately, parents of persons with disabilities have submitted a petition to Parliament, calling for an inquiry into reported challenges in accessing therapy and concerns over the financial, physical, and psychological support available through the NSPA.
