NSPA Spends MVR 8.6 Million on Patients Hospitalised at Private Facilities in September

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) spent MVR 8.6 million in September to assist patients hospitalised at private healthcare facilities in the Maldives, according to data released by the agency.

The statistics shows that NSPA provided aid for 479 patients admitted to two major private hospitals – ADK Hospital in Malé and Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumalé. A total of MVR 5 million was spent on 309 cases at Tree Top Hospital, while MVR 3.6 million was allocated for 170 cases at ADK Hospital.

At Tree Top Hospital, the largest spending included MVR 1.31 million on 25 paediatric cases, MVR 902,611 on 50 orthopaedic cases, and MVR 600,536 on 66 childbirth-related cases.

Meanwhile, at ADK Hospital, the highest expenses were recorded for cardiovascular, neurological, and orthopaedic treatments. This included MVR 1.08 million on 16 cardiovascular cases, MVR 703,829 on 11 neurological cases, and MVR 475,934 on orthopaedic cases.

The agency had spent a similar amount – MVR 8.6 million – in August to support patients admitted to private hospitals, with MVR 4.8 million spent at Tree Top Hospital and MVR 3.8 million at ADK Hospital.

In addition to providing medical aid, NSPA also extends financial support to persons with disabilities and single parents as part of its broader welfare initiatives.
