Ooredoo Maldives, in partnership with Qatar Charity, has re-inaugurated Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim bin Al-Thani (Hulhumalé Grand Mosque) with a full air conditioning system for the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday.
A ceremony marked the re-inauguration at the mosque, with attendees including CEO Assistant for Programs and Community Development Sector Faisal Rashid AlFehaida, Ooredoo Maldives CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi. Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim, and other senior officials from Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Ooredoo Maldives also attended the ceremony.
The mosque is now fully equipped with a modern air conditioning system, ensuring a comfortable environment for the over 1,800 people it accommodates. The mosque’s grounds are surrounded by trees, and a stunning geometric design adorns the ceiling inside. Built in 2006, the Hulhumalé Grand Mosque has now been upgraded to offer a more welcoming space, Ooredoo Maldives says.
Ooredoo Maldives CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi expressed their commitment to making a positive impact beyond connectivity, stating, “This mosque renovation project reflects our ongoing efforts in social good, ensuring that important community spaces are well-maintained and accessible. Through these renovations, we aim to provide a safe and welcoming space for spiritual reflection and worship.”
He also thanked Qatar Charity for their generosity and support of the project.
Faisal Rashid AlFehaida, CEO Assistant for the Programs and Community Development Sector at Qatar Charity, remarked, “Our mission is to create better opportunities wherever we go. With this project, we hope the people of Hulhumalé will enjoy a better space for worship, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan. Giving back should be at the heart of every major company, and we commend Ooredoo Maldives for their dedication.”
