Ooredoo Maldives is inviting the public to explore Maldivian folklore through its AI-powered Ooredoo Calendar 2025, which brings iconic Dhivehi tales and cultural figures to life. This month’s featured character is Dhon Hiyala, one of the most prominent heroines in Maldivian literature.

Dhon Hiyala, celebrated for her beauty and often referred to as the radiant Faiymini, was hidden by her parents on the island of Buruni. Her story unfolds when Ali Fulhu, a young man from Hulhudheli, falls in love with her. Despite several challenges, the pair eventually marry. Their union draws the envy of a powerful king, leading to a well-known struggle shaped by themes of love, freedom, and fate.

This month’s calendar experience reflects the tale, offering users an opportunity to engage with Dhon Hiyala’s story in an interactive format.

Launched earlier this year, the Ooredoo Calendar 2025 features 12 legendary characters from Maldivian folklore, including figures from Foolhudhigu Handi and Safari Kaiydha. Each month introduces a new AI-generated personality accessible through Ooredoo’s intelligent chatbot, allowing users to ask questions and hear the characters recount their stories.

Ooredoo says the initiative supports its broader aim of contributing to a “Digital Maldives” by using technology to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen intergenerational understanding. The company notes that the project combines tradition with innovation, encouraging users to reconnect with the country’s storytelling traditions.

Customers can access each month’s character through the AI Chatbot as part of a year-long journey through Maldivian myth and folklore. Ooredoo added that July will feature Badi Edhuru, inviting users to continue exploring Maldivian cultural narratives.
