Ooredoo Maldives has won the Ookla Speedtest Award for Best Fixed Network for the second half of 2025, becoming the first telecommunications company in the Maldives to receive the recognition.

According to a press release by Ooredoo, the award, conferred by Ookla — a global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights — is based on analysis of consumer-initiated Speedtest data. Ookla calculates winners using a Speed Score derived from download and upload speeds, as well as network responsiveness, reflecting real-world customer experience.

Ooredoo Maldives said the recognition underscores its continued investment in infrastructure, nationwide broadband expansion and advanced technologies aimed at strengthening connectivity across the archipelago.

Shadi Qawasmi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, described the award as a significant milestone for the company.

“Our network is purpose-built for the unique geography of our nation: connecting islands, empowering communities and enabling businesses to thrive digitally,” he said. “We remain committed to delivering fast, reliable and resilient connectivity that keeps every Maldivian connected today while preparing the country for tomorrow’s digital future.”

The company stated that reliable high-speed connectivity remains critical as the Maldives advances its digital transformation agenda, supporting sectors such as economic development, education, tourism and financial technology.
