Operation ‘Alimagu’ Underway in Malé and GA Atoll to Disrupt Drug Trade

The Maldives Police Service this morning began Operation ‘Alimagu’ in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll and the Malé region to dismantle suspected drug-smuggling and money-laundering networks.

Police said the operation targets networks suspected of drug smuggling and organised money laundering linked to narcotics trafficking into the country. According to the Police, places linked to suspected individuals will be raided, and action will be taken in accordance with the law.

According to police, Operation ‘Alimagu’ involves coordinated searches and the apprehension of individuals linked to the alleged offences. The operation is a collaborative effort of the South Police Department and the Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Wing.
