This move comes as part of an initiative to enhance road safety.
In a statement released last Wednesday, the police announced their intention to send caution notices to the owners of vehicles found in violation of stipulated regulations. These violations include speeding and improper lane changes. The enforcement of these notices is set to commence next week.
The caution notices will be dispatched to the registered owners of the vehicles, alerting them to the specific violations committed. For instance, if the violation pertains to speeding, the notice will specify the exact speed at which the vehicle was driven. These violations will be detected through the use of speed cameras installed on the bridge.
The MPS has initiated this action in response to a series of dangerous accidents occurring on Sinamale’ Bridge and the highway. Many of these incidents resulted from drivers losing control of their vehicles due to excessive speeding or reckless overtaking.
This proactive approach aims to promote safer and more responsible driving behavior among the users of Sinamale’ Bridge, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring the well-being of all road users.
