Over 280 Abandoned Vehicles from Male’ Demolished, Reports Ministry

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation reported today that 281 abandoned vehicles in Male’ and Hulhumale’ has been destroyed as part of Traffic Decongestion Program.

A total of 123 vehicles were removed from the streets and destroyed from Male’ and Hulhumale during the operation in the course of last Wednesday, Friday and Saturday alone, revealed the Ministry.

This programme, started on 17th of last month, is a joint effort among Transport Ministry, the City Council, HDC, WAMCO and the police to address the traffic flow problems caused by road congestion.

The Ministry also revealed that most of the vehicles removed were parked illegally, hindering the flow of traffic.
