State Minister Akram Kamaludeen said that by the extended deadline, 7,521 complaints had been received. Currently under investigation, the complaints are anticipated to be thoroughly examined with the process expected to conclude today. However, Akram did not disclose the nature of the grievances filed.

Out of the 20,697 applicants for the “Gedhoruveriya” scheme, over 13,000 met the eligibility criteria for the flats. The Planning Ministry has released the permanent list, solidifying the allocation order for the 4,000 government-developed flats.

Priority will be given to those who scored above 76 marks for three-bedroom flats and above 73 marks for two-bedroom flats in the first round.

A gathering of concerned citizens at the ministry has voiced complaints about irregularities in the determination of the flat list. Allegations include unfair marking practices, irrespective of living conditions, and claims of self-interest influencing the distribution of flats.

The Planning Ministry assured that the first round of flat recipients would be determined based on the information provided in the application forms.

Additionally, on-site inspections were conducted at selected residences to assess the situations. In response to public complaints and allegations, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is currently investigating the case.
