Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that more than half of the 4,000 Gedhoruveriya flat recipients have signed their housing agreements.
According to FDC, agreements have been signed with over 2,000 recipients within a month of the process commencing on 21 July. Signing appointments have already been scheduled with a further 1,530 recipients.
The corporation stated that its priority is to complete the signing process as soon as possible in order to begin handing over the apartments. Keys will be issued once agreements are finalised and the required security deposits are paid. The deposit is set at MVR 15,000 for two-bedroom units and MVR 25,000 for three-bedroom units.
FDC explained that the signing process is based on a list provided by the Ministry of Housing following verification of applicants. The ministry forwards names to FDC in batches, although the verification is not carried out in the same order as the original recipients list.
The corporation has previously highlighted delays caused by recipients submitting incomplete information through the portal. It noted that such issues continue to affect the pace of the agreement process.
Following the signing, FDC also facilitates the registration of basic services, including water, electricity, cable and gas, for the new residents.
