Parliament Achieves 92.95% Workload Completion

The 19th parliamentary assembly, which concluded its last sitting yesterday, has disclosed statistics indicating that it accomplished 92.95 percent of its total workload.
According to figures made public by the Parliament Secretariat, the total workload of the 19th parliamentary assembly amounted to 1,291 tasks, of which 1,200 were successfully completed.
Throughout its tenure, the assembly convened for 512 parliamentary sittings, spanning over 1,461 hours, alongside conducting 3,784 committee meetings.
Among the legislative achievements, a total of 210 bills were tabled, with 178 of them receiving approval. Additionally, 92 resolutions were put forward, with progress made on 73 of them. The assembly reviewed 152 motions from the government, 104 motions from the chair, and 48 motions from other lawmakers, excluding 108 emergency motions.
Furthermore, the assembly received 153 reports on various matters and responded to 384 questions from lawmakers. Notably, one privileged motion was submitted but remained unresolved by the time of the final sitting.
In his concluding remarks at Monday’s session, Speaker Mohamed Aslam acknowledged that the 19th parliamentary assembly had undertaken the most extensive workload since the inception of the parliament 92 years ago.
He expressed gratitude to all lawmakers, committee chairpersons, and parliamentary secretariat staff for their dedicated efforts, also extending appreciation to constituents of his North Hithadhoo constituency.
