All members of the Government Oversight Committee of the Parliament approved Thoriq as the minister in today’s sitting.

The new ministry was formed after Ibrahim Faisal, the former Minister for Tourism, was dismissed on January 28. The reason for his dismissal was not revealed.

Thoriq has previously served as the Minister of Environment during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration as well.
