A resolution was tabled in Parliament today, paving the way for a public inquiry into allegations raised by the opposition regarding the impact of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government policies on national security.
The motion, put forth by Abdul Mughni, the MDP candidate submitted the resolution asserting that individuals have made allegations against the policies of the former President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. These allegations suggest that the said policies had a detrimental impact on the national security and sovereignty of the Maldives.
Concerns among the public have grown in response to these allegations, prompting a call for transparency and truth. Safeguarding the peace and interests of the Maldives is deemed paramount in this context.
The allegations encompass a range of issues, including the deployment of thousands of armed soldiers within the Maldives, decisions perceived as detrimental to the country’s stance on the Chagos matter, and accusations of selling parts of the sea.
In response to the escalating concerns, the MDP passed this motion during the National Assembly session in Ukulhas last weekend, mandating a public inquiry into the matter.
