Parliament Defies Supreme Court Ruling on Quorum Count

The Parliament has opted to disregard a ruling by the Supreme Court regarding the counting of quorum, choosing instead to maintain the quorum count at 80 members.
The Supreme Court had decreed that the total number of members of Parliament should include vacancies when calculating quorum.

MDP MP Saud Hussain led the charge to defy the Supreme Court ruling, proposing that Parliament continue its practice of not including vacancies in quorum counts. This proposal found support from The Democrats MP Eva Abdullah.
Following a heated debate, the motion to disregard the Supreme Court ruling was passed with a significant majority, garnering 25 votes in favour. Only two members stood in opposition to the motion.
Speaker Aslam announced that the number of members of Parliament in subsequent sessions would remain at 80, indicating a commitment to maintaining the status quo despite the legal challenge posed by the Supreme Court ruling.
