Parliament Passes Resolution for Inquiry into Allegations Against Previous Gov’t

The Parliament has passed a resolution today, for a public inquiry into allegations levied against the previous government. 

The focal point of these accusations is the claim that the Indian army poses a threat to the security of the Maldives.

The resolution, spearheaded by North Thinadhoo MP Abdul Mughnee, emphasises the concerns raised by various political parties regarding the previous government’s impact on national security and sovereignty. The allegations specifically revolve around policies, and decisions made by the previous government, which allegedly affects the sovereignty of the country.

With 56 members present in the House during the vote, the resolution underscores the urgency of addressing these concerns to ascertain the truth. The public is interested in uncovering the facts surrounding these allegations, recognising the significance of safeguarding the peace and interests of the Maldives.

Among the key issues raised are the alleged deployment of thousands of armed soldiers in the Maldives, decisions perceived as detrimental to the nation’s interests in the Chagos matter, and accusations of selling parts of the sea.
