Parliamentary Committee to Review Presidential Cabinet Appointments

The cabinet appointments by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu are set to undergo committee review, following his submission of the nominees to the parliament for approval.

The appointments were formally introduced during today’s opening session of the third sitting of the 20th People’s Majlis.

During the session, the Speaker read out the President’s letter, which outlined the appointments made on 30 September. As required by the constitution, the President submitted the three ministerial candidates for parliamentary endorsement.

The nominees include Moosa Zameer, formerly the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is now nominated for the position of Minister of Finance. Dr Abdulla Khaleel, previously the Minister of Health, has been put forward for the role of Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ahmed Nazim Ibrahim, former Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, is nominated for Minister of Health.

Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim, who presided over today’s session, confirmed that the matter will be directed to the Government Oversight Committee for review.
