MV+ News Desk | November 28, 2024

The third parliamentary session of the year has been extended until 15 December following a vote in the chamber.

The extension was approved by a majority, with 68 members voting in favour and 11 opposing the motion.

This session, which commenced later than initially planned, was delayed by two weeks due to the installation of a new video room aimed at addressing longstanding broadcasting issues.

Under parliamentary regulations, the third session is typically scheduled to run from 1 October to the end of November. However, the recent decision reflects the need for additional time to address legislative priorities.

Looking ahead, Parliament is set to reconvene for its first session of 2024 in February, following a three-month recess. That session is expected to run until the end of April, with the second session slated for 1 June to 31 August.
