Passport Renewal Services Launched Gaafu Alifu and Lhaviyani Atoll

Passport renewal services have officially been launched in Gaafu Alifu Villingili and Lhaviyani Naifaru, marking a key milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to decentralise essential citizen services across the Maldives.

The service was inaugurated during a special ceremony attended by Maldives Immigration officials, Atoll Council and Island Council staff, and presided over by the President of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council, Ibrahim Shaheen.

With the service now operational, residents who submit passport applications online will be able to collect their finalised documents directly from Villingili.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the administrative and travel burdens previously faced by island communities seeking to renew their passports.
