Permission Required to Place Tables and Chairs at Hulhumalé Central Park
The government has confirmed that prior permission is required to place tables and chairs at Hulhumalé Central Park.
This clarification was issued by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) following public discussion on whether permission is needed to place such items for picnics or similar personal gatherings.
According to HDC, the public is allowed to hold picnics and social gatherings at any public venue, park, or beach in Hulhumalé without needing prior approval. However, the corporation stated that permission must be obtained if tables, chairs, or similar items are to be placed in these areas for such purposes.
HDC also stated that its waste inspectors will continue to monitor and maintain the cleanliness of Hulhumalé. The corporation noted that it had received feedback from members of the public in support of these efforts.
As part of ongoing initiatives, HDC may collect contact information from members of the public to clarify matters related to waste management and public conduct.
The announcement follows a recent incident where waste was reportedly left behind at Hulhumalé Central Park after an event. HDC subsequently raised this issue with the public.
Authorities have recently intensified efforts to maintain cleanliness across the Greater Malé region. These efforts include the public release of surveillance footage showing individuals littering in public spaces.
